Department work details:
The function of irrigation department is to construct barrage, canal, canal fall, aqueduct etc. for the purpose of supplying water to cultivate land to enable the cultivation of such lands for production of
crops in different season. In Udalguri district the works under irrigation department consists of construction of diversion barrage and a canal system to irrigate (77830 Hact) of land annually of an irrigation intensity of 200 % by the Dhansiri Irrigation project.
This project functions through three Civil divisions namely 1. Dhansiri Project weir Division, Bhairabkunda 2. Dhansiri Project canal-I Division, Udalguri 3. Dhansiri Project Canal-II Division, Udalguri; one
Mechanical division at Udalguri and one Electrical division in guwahati under the overall control of the Chief Engineer(Irrigation), Chandmari,Guwahati-3.
